The United States of Leland
It leaves
me feeling pretty much nothing at all. But not in n hollow kind of way. More
like, a swirl. A slow swirl of ambience, like floating up there somewhere, a
million years away in outer space. Like seeing through a very pretty see-through
veil. Like those feelings you get after you watch American Beauty. Maybe it’s
the Kevin Spacey factor?
Two things for sure tho:
1. Now that I've seen Ryan Gosling in dark hair, there is zero percent of chance left for me to move on from him.
2. The movie has a soundtrack that's beautifully painful (sounds like my sort of music). Here's my favorite:
"Don’t go racing when
you’re on your own
Your feet down and
raining
You see that you have
flown
Now the years seem
like memories, broken dreams
How can I turn back
around?
Slip back and join in
the crowd
If I could love you
Don’t go racing with
the world in your head
It’s no generation
Now let the fear be
memories, broken dreams
How can you turn back
around?
Slip back and join in
the crowd
Forces keep pushing
me down
Yet I would love you
If you could love
everyone of us
If I could love you."

you're not obliged to swallow anything that you despise
Go without,
'Til the need seeps in,
You're low anymore,
Collect your novel petals for the stem,
And glow,glow,
Melt and flow,
Eviscerate your fragile frame,
And spill it out in the ragged floor,
A thousand different versions of yourself,
And if the old guard still offend,
They got nothing left on which you depend,
So enlist every ounce,
Of your bright blood,
And off with their heads,
Jump from the hook,
See, those unrepenting buzzards want your life,
And they got no right,
As sure as you have eyes,
They got no right,
Just put yourself in my new shoes,
And see that I do what I do,
Because the old guard still offend,
We got nothing left on which we depend,
So we waste every ounce,
Of your bright blood,
And off with their heads,
Jump from the hook,
'Til the need seeps in,
You're low anymore,
Collect your novel petals for the stem,
And glow,glow,
Melt and flow,
Eviscerate your fragile frame,
And spill it out in the ragged floor,
A thousand different versions of yourself,
And if the old guard still offend,
They got nothing left on which you depend,
So enlist every ounce,
Of your bright blood,
And off with their heads,
Jump from the hook,

See, those unrepenting buzzards want your life,
And they got no right,

Some days sting and others pour like sugar from your spoon
Some days are so bad you're afraid they'll never end,
others so good you wish they'd never end.
That's days for you - not much you can do about them.
But there is something you do have control over : your attitude.
When your day is pouring like sugar, you can cherish and live every moment of it to the fullest.
And when your day stings, you can take comfort in knowing there may be sugar on the other side of midnight.
Will today be sting or sugar?
Whichever, I've got an attitude ready to handle it.

Wandering Limbs (Live Shideshow Alley) - Kimbra & Sam Lawrence
I'm gonna dangle my feet over the wire // Despite your despair, I'm going over to the other side // There's a break in the clouds where the crimson collects // Anticipate my demise, the world's different from up here.
Am I caught in the background, or part of the scene?
Misery in the comedown, when I come down from here. Are we tangled in each other, or placed in between?Like a stone, or a stones throw away from fallingAm I just sketch in the landscape, Or arranged close to you?I think I fell into a strange fate with wandering limbs, and eager handsNow the sun's gone to lay, I can lust towards space // I'll transcend into blues, fade out from the ground greys // I feel so beautiful, cut me off from the crowd cries //I got the birds eye view, now we're all just dots in a sky.

starfire woman
Feist.
Live in Jakarta, February 15th, 2012
It was very powerful, bittersweet, and definitely out of this world.
I was hooked since the very first song til the 21st.
For almost 3 full hours, i was mesmerized and did not give the least care to my surroundings.
I sang with her, most of the time i had my eyes closed, and i was dancing with myself.
It was a very liberating experience.
Hands down, she's one of the best female performer, ever.
